Test Printing Arrived

I'm all chocked up. The test print of "Awakings" arrived today. All in all, it turned out better then I thought. Thee is plenty to clean up, and odd placement or the like but I am happy with it. It's cool to hold my book in my hands for the first time! Well, lots more to do, things to correct and the night is... old. ;-)

First Test Printing of "Awakings" Goes To Press

The first test printing of "Awakings" has been sent to the presses. If this is anything like "Twinkle", there will be several test runs until we get things right. Also I'll have to apply for and purchase an ISBN number. I'm not going to do that until I get it the way I want it.

Going In To Publishing Mode

"Awakings" has gone through several rewrites including one after being proofed by Aura. I am now moving in to a publishing mode.

I've started the initial page layout and formatting. I also need to get the following done:

Design a front and back cover
Purchase an ISBN and register the book to it
Run 1 test copy proof

I'm shooting for a January 2009 release!

"A Twinkle In God's Eye" and "Touched By An Angel"

I received an interesting e-mail the other day. Someone used the comment box on the website and asked me if Typha from the book was based on Andrew from "Touched By An Angel". To whoever this was I wish you would left a valid e-mail address and name so I could contact you directly. However I was hoping that one day someone would of guessed this! Yes, there is about 10% of Andrew in the character of Typha.

For those not familiar with the series; Andrew is the Angel of Death (wiki). I really liked how that character was portrayed. There was nothing bad about him. He was helping people moving on from this world to the next. In fact he hated being referred to as the Grim Reaper. The actor who portrayed him (John Dye) did a great job.

As to the remaining 90% of Typha? I'll say this: Another 10% is composite and the remaining 80% is, you will never, ever know...

One of the things that made "A Twinkle In God's Eye" such a fun project was the help I received from my friends. Without their help and support I'm not sure if I could of ever finished it.

I'm happy to announce that Aura Pocklington is going to reprise her role as editor. This time for my short story, "Awakings".
